Artist's Comments

Somewhat based upon a scene from the movie Underworld (and a dozen of comic books with similar compositions :-) maybe not the most original composition but I liked making it anyway :-P

I used 3dsmax for the buildings (base). Planets, clouds, textures, light effects, colours,... made in Photoshop.

Hope you like it :-)

Thanks to RazorchildStock for the great source image of the girl (here is the [link])

hey, I usually shy away from 3D programs, due to rendering times... what are the specs on your computer?

You don't really need a very powerfull computer to create 3d renders. But you're right about the rendering being somewhat time absorbing (witch gives you time to get a cup of coffee, or a breath of fresh air :-)
In this image, the 3d render was very basic, just some cubes, placed upon each other for reference and 5 light sources, rendered in a few layers with the default renderer in 3dsmax. All the effects, colors, blurs, ... I usually do in photoshop and/or aftereffects because it's quicker and I know the software better :-)

But anyway, to answer your question:
currently i'm workin on a pc with an intel core2duo 6600 processor, 2GB ram and a gforce 7900gs graphic card.

thank you, I dont really know aftereffects that well

It's a lot like Photoshop, but designed for motion graphics and film compositing. But it also works for this kind of images.

yeah, I do alot of video editing, but I never got into After Effects, its funny because I used Adobe Premiere all time time till I got Final Cut Pro (switched to Mac)

ah, so many great programs, so little time to experiment with all of them :-)
